24 N. Rosalind Ave.
Exotically Eastern European, St. George (a Greek Orthodox church) is entered through a diminutive door. Once you’re inside, the white-marbled lobby re-centers you with candles and tapestry, and while ascending the stair to the sanctuary, you can marvel at gorgeously painted murals, intricate gold-leaf decorative scrollwork, and a sideways, quirky chair for His Holiness fenced off and turned toward the pulpit. Reeking of ancient spirit, St. George’s has stepped arena-style seating, augmenting the acoustics and turning a mass into a religious experience.
