CHIBI’S BOBA

It’s pure, sweet nerd-vana inside Chibi’s Boba, a new place to slurp your pearls in south Orlando. From the local Japanese-inspired pop art hanging on the walls to the Star Wars, Sailor Moon and Hello Kitty collector’s items in a display case by the cash register, this place is a tribute to cult-classic films, superhero culture and cuter-than-life anime characters.
Enjoy some old-school anime on the TVs and cool down with the green tea boba slush ($3.50-$4) made with matcha powder, or spoon up one of their soft-serve flavors ($3-$4) topped with your froyo faves (Lucky Charms, anyone?). It’s not self-serve, but the result is the same. Chibi’s also flaunts its coffee service, and displays a gorgeous espresso machine on the back wall. Pro tip: The strength of the lattes is nuclear ($2.50-$3.75).
Stop in on Friday nights for a drink and a movie – Chibi’s projects a film onto a wall so patrons can sit, slurp and screen a classic, starting at 6:30 p.m. (past showings have included The Princess Bride and Willow). Check their Facebook page for a schedule of cosplay contests, panel discussions and live music events with some of Orlando’s nerd-rock bands.
