Rotation: What local artists are listening to

This week: Edgar Gonzalez Jr.

"Surf-rock band Wavves' most recent album, King of the Beach, has not left my car stereo in weeks. It's the perfect album to get you ready for summertime. The lyrics are catchy as hell and great for singing/screaming along to on long car rides. What actually drew me to Wavves was the track "Linus Spacehead," which reminds me a lot of local bands Alias Punch and Yogurt Smoothness. I'm definitely digging the fun guitar riffs and infectious synthesizer parts and the CD probably won't be leaving my car anytime soon."

(Acoustic singer-songwriter Edgar Gonzalez Jr. plays the Copper Rocket Saturday, March 19 with Goodrich & the Die Tryins, the Soul Birds and the Flyin' Violets. The show is free and begins at 9 p.m.)
