Review - Live at the Greek

Artist: Jimmy Page & The Black Crowes

"Live at the Greek," originally an Internet-only release, shows why a Jimmy Page and The Black Crowes pairing was such a grand idea: This is not just music -- it is an event. Playing out their vinyl fantasies, the Robinson brothers have put together a dream set of Zep classics and key covers (B.B. King, Fleetwood Mac) -- it's like Nirvana never happened.

Throughout, the three-pronged guitars of Page-Robinson-Freed, along with Steve Gorman's Bonhamesque drumming, take these songs back in time and rekindle the vigor and electricity with which they were originally conceived. With Crowes crooner Chris Robinson stamping his own brand of Southern charm onto these tracks without ever aping the masters, this release is a win-win proposition for any rock & roll fan.
