Review - The Sinister Urge

Artist: Rob Zombie

comment

If there is one name out there that personifies the term heavy metal, it is Rob Zombie. The Zombie moniker conjures up images of the undead walking through the streets looking for fresh brains and loud guitar riffs. Although "The Sinister Urge" is his second release after the disbanding of White Zombie, it's apparent that Rob is not really trying to branch out as a solo artist. Even Zombie's guests, including holiday tour mate Ozzy Osborne (who shares vocal duties on "Iron Head"), don't add much of anything to the tracks.

CD highlights are "Demon Speeding," "Dead Girl Super-star" (what's with the dead girl fetish?) and "Scum of the Earth," originally released on the "Mission: Impossible 2" soundtrack. Also included is the title track to Mr. Zombie's unreleased film, "House of 1000 Corpses," which resurrects the sound and feel of classic Alice Cooper.
