Review - Socialisme ou Barbarie: The Bedroom Recordings

Artist: Monade

comment

Unsurprisingly, Monade sounds an awful lot like stripped-down Stereolab. 'Lab vocalist Laetitia Sadier took it upon herself to record tracks in her bedroom (as if Stereolab wasn't prolific enough) with minimal assistance from various friends. The result is a collection of bubbly, synth-heavy tracks that evoke the sounds that Stereolab used to make, before they discovered ProTools and Tortoise. French lyrics that (I guess) point in a more philosophical direction and the warm combination of Sadier's voice and keyboards easily remind you why Stereolab used to be such a great band.
