Review - Live At The Googolplex

Artist: Clutch

They should be bigger, but they're not, and as such Clutch is forced to be content with the knowledge that pretty much every riff-heavy, post-punk metal band out there owes them. This live album captures the group's intensity, but ultimately it's not as satisfying as some of their studio work, due mainly to the fact that with riffs this chunky, clear and heavy production is always a plus. And though the recording quality is high, the dense intensity of a track like "Pure Rock Fury" is ultimately muddled. Regardless, Neil Fallon's distinctive redneck growl is in full effect as the band plows through 15 of their weirdest and most visceral.
