Time has not been overwhelmingly kind to these dark, German thrashers. Although it would be wholly incorrect to infer that they have grown worse over their two-decade-long existence, the fact that they are no better is a testament to both their original vision of slovenly brutality and their inability to improve upon it. This double live album (their third!) differs only from 2000's "Marooned" in variations on song selection, and it amply displays the trio's biker-bar version of black metal. Closing with "Ace of Spades" is appropriate -- in the same way that Lemmy's raunchy rock is an immutable beast unto itself, so is the sound of Sodom's full-bore heaviness.
