Stranded in Paris by an airline strike, a fussy gourmand (Jean Reno) and a bubbly beautician (Juliette Binoche) trade theories of life, amour and the universe Ð in between odd-couple squabbling that hints at a deeper connection. Director/co-writer Danile Thompson boldly announces her intention to replicate the on-screen traditions of love American style, and she pretty much nails it, except that nobody in "Pretty Woman" ever discussed globalization. Good acting makes us momentarily forget that we get enough of this stuff right here at home without having to import it for some reason.
