Jason Hammel and Kori Gardner, aka Mates of State, are husband and wife. He plays drums. She plays organ. They both sing. From the sound of "Team Boo," they're either on some powerful meds or they're seriously in love. Their instruments and voices collide, battle and then merge, with both Jason and Kori sounding totally ecstatic that they get to make a living by screaming these pretty melodies at their beloved. It sounds like indie-rock bliss or like it could be in a Kmart commercial. The things that were wondrous to you and your partner at first may now just seem routine, but that doesn't mean they're not still wondrous to everyone else.
