"First Flight" is Physics' debut full-length album, after releasing a parade of 12-inches. This Swedish septet specializes in smooth and soulful house music, with scattered Latin influences popping up throughout the album's dozen tracks. A bigger influence, however, is jazz, and Physics incorporates actual instruments such as sax, guitar, flute and real percussion into their tracks. But this is done as an accent -- the predominant, unmistakable sound here is always house. The resulting blend is an outstanding debut that is beautifully devoid of clich?d hooks.
