Concerned less with trend-hopping (a few hilarious swipes at crunk clichés bear this out) than with making a quality slice of progressive hip-hop, Orlando's Nu-Ridians embrace solid simplicity via straightforward rhymes and well-crafted but direct tracks. The result is a budget-defying effort that highlights the duo's talent and a yet-to-be-exploited Orlando underground: X of Transparent Dark Productions mastered the disc while Mindbender, Tzar and other locals lent production hands. (Nu-Ridians perform at The Social on Thursday, Jan. 22 with Andromeda and Paradox Unit with guest DJ Jesse Jazz.)
