Emo-electronic sad sack Styrofoam is lost in silly love songs and ice cream sundaes of regret, making Nothing's Lost a revolving tableau of woozy sounds and frazzled fairy tales. Basically one man (Brussels' Arne Van Petegem), Styrofoam mines a mellow shoegazing vein, with zippy programmed sounds and crunchy robotic beats driving the music like metallic insects in courtship mode. A heavyweight in his homeland, Styrofoam draws an impressive assisting cast including Markus Acher (Lali Puna/Notwist), Ben Gibbard (Death Cab for Cutie) and Andrew Kenny (American Analog Set), among others. To Styrofoam's credit, it is his songs and production that hold your attention, not the guest acts. As squirming melodies bounce like dancing bubbles, the songs merge one into the next with little change of sound or style. Ears perk up for bubblegum vocalist Miki in "Anything"; closing track "Make It Mine" could be the theme song to the next WB teen soap opera.
