One of the unsung heroes of the Rhymesayers Entertainment camp is producer/DJ Ant, or Anthony Davis. Like he's done with Brother Ali, Ant provides a soulful, smokin' backdrop for MCs Slug and Murs to roll out their complementary, often comical verses on Felt 2. Aside from Atmosphere, the Living Legends and a recent celebrated matchup with 9th Wonder, some will know Felt from their first tribute record (to Christina Ricci) a few years back. While the content here doesn't have much to do with Lisa Bonet or any Huxtables, it's sometimes a tribute to Hall-of-Famers, in spots cribbing lyrics from the Beasties, EPMD, Ice-T and others. Murs and Slug definitely capably live up to their reputations, occasionally overdoing it with adolescent sexual bravado ("Breaker Down Like a Shotgun"), but it's Ant's tasteful handiwork that leaves a nearly unrivaled mark in 2005 beat-making.
