Iceland's Múm hiked to a music school in a countryside fishing town called safjörður to record some of Go Go Smear the Poison Ivy, and managed to keep their electronic/live pop masterpieces petite despite the attention to the locale for its now-legendary Aldrei Fór g Suður music festival. Morr released Múm's classic debut LP for U.S. listeners in 2005, Yesterday Was Dramatic ' Today Is OK (originally issued in 2000). Although Kristín Valtysdóttir packed up her unearthly vocals and exited pre-Go Go, her former bandmates are continuing in much the same vein of the precious early stuff, even as they've issued two albums since their first one. Aside from the inclusion of brass instruments, viola and more accordion on Go Go (as featured in the mournful and prominently organic 'I Was Her Horse), the chirps and blips that eventually enter beneath the live instruments in 'Marmalade Fires find Múm partying like it's 2000, with string swells that look to neighbors Sigur Rós.

A limited edition packaging of Múm's playful, beautifully arranged Go Go was crafted from water, potato and starch; the only thing that it really needs is a smear of sour cream. They might be conscious of environmental concerns, but clearly Múm couldn't care less about our cholesterol.
