The Bach Festival Society of Winter Park produces the areaâ??s finest classical music, featuring the Bach Festival Choir and Orchestra under the dynamic direction of John V. Sinclair. The Bach Choir is composed of over 150 committed volunteers who share a passion for outstanding music. Rehearsals are held on the Rollins College campus Monday evenings, with additional rehearsals as needed in preparation for upcoming concerts.
The Choir performs a variety of music throughout the season and receives invitations to partner with other orchestras and community organizations. In May 2009 it performed to great acclaim with the London Symphony Orchestra during the orchestraâ??s residency at the Daytona Beach International Festival. Gareth Davies, principal flute for the LSO, said of the performance on his blog: "The stage was groaning with the weight of the orchestra, soloists and surely one of the best choirs I have heard, the Bach Festival Choir from Orlando.â?
Bach Festival Choir members recognize what a rare opportunity it is to sing with such an amazing choir. One member noted his reasons for joining the Choir: â??Being part of a superb musical organization led by an incredible director. Singing high-quality music. Meeting really nice, interesting people in the other choir members.â?
