Although it's still on the Back Booth website, I've learned that Pete Rock is definitely not playing our town on that date or any other.
It seemed too good to be true from the moment it was announced. First of all, the venue's booker, Chris Anderson, didn't book it. Rather, well-known local DJ Y-Not tried to make it happen personally out of his own pocket to help promote the kickoff for the new "Heist" night there.
According to Y-Not, Pete Rock's people strung him along for weeks, finally saying the veteran producer had "issues" and probably wouldn't be playing. At that point, Y-Not says he decided to get his deposit back and work on someone else. I'll keep you posted when we get a definite on that person.
