Selection Reminder: Comics! A Nerdy Burlesque Show tonight!

Friday, July 8– Comics! A Nerdy Burlesque Show

For some comic-book creepers, superheroines provide the ultimate geekgasm: the skin-smacking costumes, the determined yet mysteriously masked eyes, the staggeringly sketched curves. And tonight, no matter which comic series or fetish you favor – the wholesome American Dream, the flirty and fun Aquagirl, the hard-to-get Phantom Lady, the terribly toxic Poison Ivy or the adorably anime schoolgirl Sailor Moon – a handful of comic-book leading ladies will be stripped (literally!) from their illustrious pages for a live, sultry “shimmy and shake” courtesy of Orlando’s own Skill Focus Burlesque troupe. We anticipate a sea of skin and spandex, and we’re keeping our fingers crossed for a strut of superheroic powers, like beer-funneling shields or laser-shooting pasties. That’s if, y’know, you’re into that sort of thing. – Aimee Shea (10 p.m. at Blank Space, 201 E. Central Blvd.; $10; 407-481-9001;
