Friday, Sept. 30PBR Art Contest Orlando Finalist Party

What’s more inspiring than a can of cheap beer? OK, a lot of things, but none of those inspirations is offering artists a chance to win $1,844 in cash and a year’s supply of free beer in exchange for some paint on canvas. A couple of weeks ago Mother Falcon Clothing hosted the PBR Art Show, a national competition sponsored by iconic (ironic?) beer brand Pabst Blue Ribbon. Artists were invited to submit works inspired by or based on the PBR logo, and tonight’s event spotlights the regional finalists (three each from Orlando, Tampa and St. Pete) who will move on to compete at the national level and maybe win the cash and suds. For those who didn’t make the cut: We imagine there will be plenty of free beer in which you can drown those vague feelings of inadequacy and shame. – Erin Sullivan (8:30 p.m.-2 a.m. at the Falcon, 819 E. Washington St.; free; 407-423-2788;
