Selection Reminder: Ralph Fest Tribute and Benefit Show

Sunday, Oct. 23Ralph Fest

On Sept. 10, the world – especially the Orlando music scene – lost a truly friendly person in Ralph Ameduri Jr. The utility player was substituting on bass for Thomas Wynn & the Believers when a man (who is still on the loose) attempted to commit a robbery and shot Ameduri. Although justice has not been served (yet) and a community still mourns, the time has come to pay tribute to the man the way he would’ve totally dug. Ameduri’s girlfriend, along with scene notables Jessica Pawli and Will Walker, have organized a block party in his name, the proceeds of which go to Ameduri’s family. The event takes place outside the Bullitt Bar (33 E. Pine St.) and will feature a sure-to-be emotional performance by the Believers as well as special reunion shows by Ameduri’s former band, the Rondos, the Attack, Terri Binion & the Longhaulers, Nervous Turkey and Big Jef Special. As much as our city knows how to put on a show, Orlando especially knows how to grieve in style. – Justin Strout (with Thomas Wynn & the Believers, the Rondos, Kevin Kinney, the New Lows, Skinny McGee & His Mayhem Makers, Sunny, Terri Binion & the Longhaulers and more; 4 p.m. on Pine Street between Orange Avenue and Court Street; $10 suggested donation)
