Friday, Nov. 11 – Harry Potter Home Entertainment Celebration
Now that pesky Halloween is out of the way, the holiday season can officially get underway. To that end (and many others, most involving money or statuettes of golden naked guys), Universal Orlando’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter is hosting a three-day marathon – excuse us, “Home Entertainment Celebration” – of the eight movies that constitute history’s biggest moneymaking film franchise, many of which have at least one Christmas set piece and all of which feature John Williams’ tinsel-perfect, Oscar-nominated musical scores. Tickets to the sit-in were only made available via pricey vacation packages, but to sweeten the pot, actors who played characters such as Fred and George Weasley, Luna Lovegood, Arthur Weasley, Argus Filch and Lavender Brown will be in the house. Oh, and one of the other Weasleys, too: Hypable.com recently confirmed that Rupert Grint (Ron) will be there, too. Even better news: Those with tickets can explore the awesome Wizarding park during those first two Chris Columbus misadventures! – Justin Strout (through Nov. 13 at Islands of Adventure at Universal Orlando, 1000 Universal Studios Plaza; packages starting at $369; 407-363-8000; universalorlando.com)
