Selection Reminder: Grandpa's AV Club Swap Meet!

Sunday, Nov. 27Grandpa's AV Club Swap Meet

A happy ending on the A&E show Hoarders usually includes dramatic footage of a professional cleaning company extracting tons, literally tons, of accumulated junk from the decrepit home of a compulsive collector who has taken the brave step of parting with his or her unique but utterly useless possessions. We understand the liberating ethos of the junk-it-all strategy, but on the other hand, isn’t there some stuff worth selling in there? Well, if you’re a hoarder of “anything media or pop culture related,” such as books, LPs, DVDs, CDs and any tape format you can think of, Grandpa’s AV Club Swap Meet will be the perfect opportunity to shed these things for a pretty penny (literally, one shiny penny). You can also swap these items out for other items from other people’s hoards, or – stop reading now! – simply shop to increase the size of your own hoard. Maybe you should stay home. – Jeff Gore (3-8 p.m. at Audubon Park Garden District, 2916 Corrine Drive; free)
