Saturday-Sunday, Dec. 10-11There's Something About Merry

Vocal music is experiencing a surge of renewed life, what with Glee and its reality-based ilk (The Sing Off, The Singing Bee, The Voice), but those solo divas and high school ensembles can’t compare to the full-on whomp of a hundred seasoned voices tsunami-ing your eardrums. This weekend the Orlando Gay Chorus takes on the holidays with There’s Something About Merry, a not-so-traditional program of seasonal classics offering a mix of “fun, laughter, tears and reflections on spirit.” December is the time for the festival of lights, after all, and nothing goes better with lights than sequins and jazz hands. Round yarn virgin, here we come. – Jessica Bryce Young (7:35 p.m. Saturday, 4:35 p.m. Sunday at the Plaza Live, 425 N. Bumby Ave.; $25-$30; 407-228-1220; plazaliveorlando.com)
