Saturday, Dec. 31 – New Year's Eve Block Party
Oh, but there are so many choices within such a short driving distance this year. On a much more chill (though no less ass-kicking) note than the Stardust thing tonight, Mills 50 bars Will’s Pub and the Peacock Room are teaming up for a block party following the success of October’s nearby Southern Fried Sunday parking-lot jam. The locals-heavy bill includes three-piece surf boys Thee Wilt Chamberlain, Andy Matchett & the Minks’ crunchy rock and avant-popsters Surfin Serf, all of whom are alone worth the generously low price of admission. – Justin Strout (with Thee Wilt Chamberlain, Andy Matchett & the Minks, Tam Tam the Sandwich Man & the Magical Sugar Cookies, Goodrich & the Die Tryin’s, Surfin Serf; 7:30 p.m. at Will’s Pub, 1042 N. Mills Ave., and Peacock Room, 1321 N. Mills Ave., willspub.org, $6)
