Friday-Sunday, Feb. 10-12Old Florida Outdoor Festival

So what if that furry little rascal predicted another six weeks of winter. Let’s stop pretending our Florida winters are anything short of terribly refreshing. This weekend, we suggest crawling out of the depths of your TV room and making your way to Apopka for the Old Florida Outdoor Festival. Not only does this three-day jumbo-size fest provide an excuse to get some fresh air (bird watching excursions around Lake Apopka, farmers market shopping), but you’ll also soak in some culture (art displays and live painting by seven of the original Florida Highwaymen artists), all while stretching those under-worked muscles (fishing and hunting demos, archery workshops). When dusk rolls around on Friday and Saturday nights, grab a cold one, sample bites from the chili cook-off tent and then plop down by the main stage for the sunset-and-songs kind of concerts only enjoyed in the great outdoors. – Aimee Vitek
