Thursday, April 19 – Against the Grain: A Timber Ingrained Art Show
29 S. Orange Ave.
A QR code isn’t a usual sight for an art gallery, but then again Tim McCloskey isn’t your usual artist. The Orlando-based sculptor (who is colorblind!) manipulates wood to form technologically based pieces like that QR code and an 8-bit-inspired lighting fixture. McCloskey will come together with Adriaan Mol for a “super natural art experience” at Redefine Gallery, in which all of the works will be made out of wood. We don’t have to worry about McCloskey’s techno-art stealing the spotlight either, with Mol presenting eye-catching works like a wooden R2-D2 and TIE fighter. Come out to the opening reception to catch a glimpse of a few Orlando artists who are pushing the boundaries of this oft-neglected medium. – Leanna Robinson
