Sunday, June 17 – Battle of the Beards
Wall Street Plaza
Wall and Court streets
Ever been told you’ve got a sweet ’stache’? This is your chance to show off those luscious facial locks, as Wall Street Plaza hosts a Battle of the Beards contest to find Orlando’s coolest mustaches and beards. Teams from local bars and businesses with the most impressive beards will vie for a shiny plaque, website promo and, most importantly, some serious bragging rights. No worries, though, beardos can enter the contest solo – “short, medium, fleshy, scary,” as described on the event website. Judging categories include Best ’Stache, Best Beard and Best Grooming, along with, we can’t forget, Best Lady Beard (you can’t hog all the hair, gentlemen). Live music, vendors, local artists and comedy spots round out the day, while a portion of ticket sales benefit the Getaboard Foundation, which helps at-risk kids through action sports. Sounds like a hairball of burly, furry fun – if, you know, that’s what you’re into. – Eleanor Roy
