Sunday, July 15 – Food Truck Wars II 1-7 p.m. Cranes Roost Park 274 Cranes Roost Blvd. Altamonte Springs 407-296-5882 free admission, various menu prices

It’s round two of the Battle of the Bulge: 40 gourmet food trucks dish out the goods at Cranes Roost this weekend while vying for awards like Largest Single Food Item, Most Fun Food Truck Appearance and the always-coveted People’s Choice Award. More than half of the trucks call Central Florida home, including returning Top Sales winner New Smyrna Beach’s Café Heavenly, which entices with succulent lobster rolls. Among other local trucks, Blue Bayou serves up bowls of shrimp gumbo, sweet bundles emanate from Mini Donut Expert and Cluster Funk creates a must-try seafood specialty, the Boogie Boat. Also along for the ride are a handful of out-of-towners from Tampa and South Florida, like Miami’s The Big Ragu, with homemade Italian arancini (filled rice fritters), and My Mad Scientists (winner of best truck appearance at the first Food Truck Wars). Come hungry, order an item or two, wash it down with a visit to the beer and wine garden, and then hope your seasoned food-truck noshing leads to a victory for your favorite. – Aimee Vitek
