Wednesday, Aug. 15 – Stand Up With Jered

Late last month, Jered Dowden and Alex Johnson, co-founders of local experimental electronic label Relief in Abstract, were driving home from the Warped Tour when they jumped a median and ran into an oncoming car. Johnson walked away; Dowden wasn’t so lucky, as he spent the next couple weeks in the hospital with broken bones and bruising. He’s home now and in good spirits but, like almost every other human being in this country, he wasn’t nearly prepared for the rabid skull-fucking that is our health care system. Facing outrageous price tags for the variety of services his shattered frame requires – surgery, rehabilitation, physical therapy – it only makes sense that Orlando’s ultra-charitable music scene come together to help yet another downed comrade. Lucky for us, Dowden’s friends and label artists happen to be some of the city’s best, so it’s pretty much a win-win
except for Dowden’s broken femur and stuff. – Justin Strout
