Tribute shows are a pleasure so head-slappingly obvious that they’re everywhere. That’s why we see well-known tributes to universally canonical acts like the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Michael Jackson, Guns N’ Roses, Journey and, erm, Poison roll through here all the time. What you don’t see too often – and what should thrill discerning underground music fans – is a whole night of homage to the Melvins. Although less widely heralded, the seminal sludge pioneers are more influential than most casual music fans realize (um, Nirvana, anyone?). But notable Orlando bands Bob on Blonde, Yogurt Smoothness (pictured right) and the Mother Machine know the score and will be lovingly romancing the Northwest legends’ earth-plowing catalog. We’ll see if any of them have the balls to recreate the beastly dual-drummer iteration of Big Business-era Melvins, but we can dream, can’t we? – Bao Le-Huu
