Anyone familiar with musician Beck knows his penchant for experimentation, and his latest album, Song Reader, is perhaps his quirkiest release yet – and that's saying something. The album will be released to the public next month, only in sheet music form. So that means, if you want to hear it, you'll need to either bulk up on your musicianship or beg your best musician friend to work it out for you.
Or... you could check out what seems like a pretty cool project that Full Sail University is doing: inviting local and regional bands to learn a single song from the album, which will then be recorded at the school and shared with the world on YouTube. We don't know, as of yet, when the recordings will be posted, but local musicians who want to participate should take note: Full Sail is having a contest to select one or more local artists to put their own spin on a new Beck track.

Submissions are due by noon, Dec. 5. Winners announced Dec. 12. My advice? Be weird. Nobody needs to hear a pitch-perfect replica of "Devil's Haircut."
