Saturday, Dec. 29 – Bright Light Social Hour
54 N. Orange Ave.
Don’t let the ridiculously ironic facial hair fool you – Bright Light Social Hour is more than just another pretty mustache. These guys are the darlings of the indie music media, and for good reason: They hail from Austin, Texas, and they rock kind of like if the Allman Brothers collided with Gil Scott-Heron and Passion Pit at Woodstock. That is to say, their sound is part psychedelic acid test and part ’70s classic rock, with a touch of electronics and a hefty dose of hipster cred thrown in for good measure. More than likely, your hipper friends have already seen them play at SXSW or CMJ, but if you catch this show, you can brag to them that you got to see them in this cool little club in downtown Orlando that hardly anybody up north has ever heard of before. Bragging rights. You can have them. – Erin Sullivan
