Saturday-Sunday, Feb. 9-10 – Orlando Folk Festival
10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday-Sunday
Loch Haven Park
900 E. Princeton St.
Loch Haven Park once again plays host to the annual Orlando Folk Festival, a two-day outdoor spread now in its 11th year, which features demos by area crafters and artisans – quilt-piecing by Jewel Tompkins, Magda Miller’s bottlecap jewelry, Sam Knowles’ chainsaw art and many others. Bluegrass-folk group the Silver Fleece take to the lakeside stage on Saturday, while singer-songwriter Laney Jones plays Sunday’s musical lineup. Bring the kids, the pets – they’re all more than welcome – and a picnic basket, and grab a seat on the grass along the shores of Lake Formosa. Or, if you so choose, stop in the Mennello Museum next door to take a look at the current African American Art: Harlem Renaissance, Civil Rights Era & Beyond exhibit, on view now until April 28. – Shelby England
