Lake Meadow Naturals hosts Breakfast in the Pasture

Saturday, March 2 – Breakfast in the Pasture

8 a.m.

Lake Meadow Naturals

10000 Mark Adam Road, Ocoee

Lake Meadow Naturals is one of those open secrets in our food community – anyone here with a bent for local eating or a career in food knows about Dale Volkert, because he and his dedicated team supply all-natural, free-range, heritage poultry products to some of the best restaurants and markets in town. But casual diners might not have that connection to the folks – and the farm – behind the eggs. That’s a shame, but one that can be redressed at this Saturday-morning farm tour and breakfast, presented by A Local Folkus. Take a guided wander through the absurdly picturesque pastures, gardens and animal enclosures (say hi to the bunnies for me) to see all the things besides poultry that Lake Meadow is up to, then enjoy a gourmet morning meal prepared by chefs from swanky Ritz-Carlton restaurant Norman’s, and finally, make a stop in the farm store to take some of that experience home. Kids will enjoy the 200 newly hatched chicks (they’ll be just four days old on Saturday); grown-ups will enjoy the hot coffee served immediately upon 8 a.m. arrival and check-in. – Jessica Bryce Young
