They say the pen is mightier than the sword. Well, this week writers from the Orlando area are certainly going to prove this adage to be true at There Will Be Madness. This newly annual event is a play off the monthly There Will Be Words prose reading series, and is being held in honor of NCAA college basketball’s March Madness. This is how the flash fiction slam will go down: Eight writers battle it out by reading their written works over the course of three rounds; each round increases in word count and decreases in authors, with only one writer left standing with their pen held high. The winner will also be given a chance to read in a future There Will Be Words event, and he or she gets bragging rights. We’ll soon see whose words pack the most punch. – Drexler B. James
