Saturday, April 13 – DeLandapalooza Music Festival
various venues, DeLand
DeLand hibernates all winter, and then every year, all of a sudden, DeLandians stretch and awaken for spring – and they’re immediately impatient to party, inviting everybody over for a gigantic festival that calls on 150 bands to keep it loud and crowded. We’re talking about a doozy of a festival, DeLandapalooza, that embraces every genre within rock, hip-hop, country, jazz, punk, electronic and, jeez, it just goes on. Hitch a ride or caravan to DeLand with any of the excellent Orlando bands headed that way, including Evan Taylor Jones, Sailor, 1942, the Actomatics, the Milk Carton Superstars and so many more, it’s almost impossible to get through them all. Except that the festival organizers make it really easy to check out the local artists appearing, with an admirable list on their website of performing acts that includes genre information and links to listen to the ones that intrigue you most. Winter’s over. Don’t sleep on this! – Ashley Belanger
