Taps From Scratch
1809 E. Winter Park Road
Orlando is all too familiar with the drink-and-view art party concept. And why not? The hues in that watercolor really start to pop after a glass of pinot, don’t they? While this might be new(ish) Aububon Park denizen Taps From Scratch’s first go-round with hosting an art show/concert/barbecue event, they seem to have all bases covered. For one ticket price ($25), you can grub on all-you-can-eat George & Son BBQ and wash it down with all you can drink from 13-15 home-brewed beers on tap. Oh, and of course, there’s a showcase of works by 20 local artists – paintings, jewelry and abstract pieces – and live music to round out the day. You know, it’s one of those kinds of events when it doesn’t matter that details might be scant, because when you combine those few essential components, it’s sure to be a rousing time. While you’re at it, take a tour of the Taps From Scratch facility for an in-depth look behind the home-brewing process. And because 100 percent of proceeds go back to the local artists selling works, be sure to take a souvenir home with you. – Aimee Vitek
