It’s time to put a little hair on your chest and man up, because Eternal Tap’s underground bar, the Whiskey Cellar, is finally having its grand opening. It’s not for the lighthearted or those who don’t like the fiery full-bodied flavor of a good whiskey on the rocks.
Ernest Hemingway would be proud of the Cellar's spirit selection, which represents American whiskey crafters and various seasonal selections. Don’t worry if you don’t know your rye whiskeys from your bourbon whiskeys, because the staff will help you get your creative juices flowing with their knowledge in the art of mixology.
Mark Twain once said “Too much of anything is bad, but too much whiskey is barely enough.” So it’s a good thing that there will also be a full liquor bar and specialty food and drink menu available at the grand opening event. Featured cocktails on grand opening night include the Old Fashioned, New York Manhattan, Sazerac (with Absinthe Side Car), Peach Milk Fuzz, Gingerman Shanty and a Raspberry Mint Julep. The cocktails will be paired with menu items such as glazed salmon sliders, bacon fat popcorn, Gentlemen Jack barbecue kabobs and Crown Royal Maple bread pudding.
The Whiskey Cellar steers off trend of the modern “speakeasy” by forgoing the passwords, stuffiness and cocktail restrictions, and instead simply offers a place to enjoy the company of friends and other whiskey aficionados while still retaining the same ambiance and historical character.
The bar's worth checking out, but we warn you: Only real men (and women!) drink whiskey.
