This is some major bad timing if you're a film obsessed federal employee, but Criterion is having a 50% off flash sale on their website today. It runs through noon est tomorrow, but there usually major technical difficulties with the mass hoard of nerds rushing to cash in before Armageddon and Border Radio sell out.
It brings most discs down to about $20, which is about as cheap as Criterion discs ever get, and usually that's a special twice-a-year thing only from Barnes & Noble.
What a way to celebrate the magnificent stupidity, pettiness and black heartedness of the federal government than to spend money in the private sector I guess? (FYI: the US Post Office is not supposed to be affected by the shut down.)
The promotional code for the sale is, pleasantly enough, INGRID. Have at it.
