THAT PART WHERE ALEC ACTUALLY CLIMBS UP ITS OWN ASS IN ORDER TO FIND IMPROVED WAYS TO APPEAR MORE INSIDIOUS. TAX THE CLEAN ENERGY PEOPLE!: An alliance of corporations and conservative activists is mobilising to penalise homeowners who install their own solar panels – casting them as "freeriders" – in a sweeping new offensive against renewable energy, the Guardian has learned. Over the coming year, the American Legislative Exchange Council (Alec) will promote legislation with goals ranging from penalising individual homeowners and weakening state clean energy regulations, to blocking the Environmental Protection Agency, which is Barack Obama's main channel for climate action. YOUR FOOD MIGHT NOT BE SO FAST TODAY (ESPECIALLY IF YOU’RE AT THE BEHEMOTH MCDONALDS ON SAND LAKE AT NOON): Fast-food workers in about 100 cities will walk off the job on Thursday, organizers say, which would mark the largest effort yet in a push for higher pay. The actions are intended to build on a campaign that began about a year ago to call attention to the difficulties of living on the federal minimum wage of $7.25 an hour, or about $15,000 a year for a full-time employee. The protests are part of a movement by labor unions, Democrats and other worker advocacy groups to raise pay in low-wage sectors. Last month, President Barack Obama said he would back a Senate measure to raise the federal minimum wage to $10.10 an hour. Protesters are calling for $15 an hour, although many see the figure as a rallying point rather than a near-term possibility. (via Huffington Post)

NOPE, NOTHING TO SEE HERE. EVERYTHING IS GOING SWIMMINGLY IN THE CHARLIE CRIST CAMPAIGN! LOOK OVER HERE! $2 MILLION RAISED IN NOVEMBER! Bill de Blasio's former campaign manager Bill Hyers didn't get such a warm welcome in Florida running the gubernatorial campaign for Charlie Crist, with rumblings Hyers was pushed out because of tension with the candidate's wife. Crist had introduced Hyers as his campaign manager at a fundraiser in November, but in less than a month, the political operative was reportedly shown the door. Crist insists there is no scandal, telling the Tampa Bay Times, "It's early. Our campaign structure is still coming together. Bill wanted to stay in New York because it was good for him." Democratic sources told the Times that Hyers didn't get along with Crist's wife Carole, 44. (via NY Daily News)
