Basically, use your head: Don't tag the actual band on your event. That will solve the issue right there. Not only does tagging the band pull your event into the band's page on these websites (like this Get Up Kids page, for example), but repeatedly creating events that mislead the client base on these soul-sucking (sorry, I hate ticket site fees that much) service sites could result in you being banned from posting events entirely. Which would suck for the original bands you are trying to promote and for your web presence as a show promoter.
The problem further compounds because many popular bands cut corners by auto-generating their show dates from sites like Ticketmaster/Live Nation/Ticketweb or apps like BandsInTown. So then, you have your cover show listed on the band's actual site, which means if someone had the wits to notice the small-text description next to your show date and visits the band's website to verify, the band could very well have that date listed, too. This is when heads begin to hurt, and the last thing you want when promoting a show is to give people a headache before they even get through the door.
While it's kinda funny how you can manipulate the Web pretty easily these days, trolling isn't worth jeopardizing the visibility of your efforts, I promise. (FYI: I do not believe that any Orlando show promoters are actively trolling.)
