After six years in business, Shag'd Hair Studio closed its doors forever last month. One of our 25 reasons to love Audubon Park, the hipster hair spot had been open since 2008, landing in the No. 2 spot in our Best of Orlando poll a few times during their tenure. A large part of what made the studio so popular was the fantastic stylists and the magic they were able to work with your mane. For those of you sad about the loss of Shag'd, don't be too sad, we know where the stellar stylists are going.
Four of Shag'd's stylists will be moving on to a relatively new shop called Porte Noire. David Freebern, Rachel Linch, Bill Haire and Tiffany Howell will be renting chairs at the Winter Park salon. Calling itself a "salon collective," the shop is not a traditional one-owner salon, but a group of independently-owned salons housed under the same roof. So I guess you could say the four of them are becoming business owners in addition to hairstylists.
Karla Alvarado will be taking a chair at Matthew Michael's Salon and Spa Experience, which will be moving into the former Shag'd space.
Sadly, Nico, the owner, will not be popping up anywhere in Orlando, as he is retiring from the hair business.
