METRONOMY with Zulu Wave | 8 p.m. Friday, 10 | The Social, 54 N. Orange Ave. | 407-246-1419 | thesocial.org | $20 | 18 and up

This year kicked off with a crazy proclamation by reputed DJ Zane Lowe: Metronomy’s single “Love Letters” is the hottest record in the world. As if this weren’t driving hordes down digital streams enough, then Michel Gondry came on to direct the video for that song – which positions the band in matching jackets for a throwback appeal that’s matchy-matchy with its soul-inflected chorus and lets the viewer peek in on the band through colorful storybook scenery that looks like a children’s book with thick cut-outs – garnering the band more than 2 million views on YouTube. Metronomy stops through Orlando on their way to an especially epic III Points in Miami, so we can thank our flashy Southern neighbors for this lucky addition to our October concert schedule.
