Last month, we told you (but didn't entirely agree with) Business Insider's pick for the most famous book set in the state of Florida. Now, the folks over at Business Insider have released their choices for the most famous movie set in each state.
Some of them are obvious: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre represents Texas, Arizona gets its closeup in Raising Arizona and, just like on the book map, Gone with the Wind seems to be the only fictional version of Georgia pop culture remembers. Others are more surprising: I mean, who even knows where exactly American Pie took place? (Michigan, for the record.) And Heathers? It was the Anytown, U.S.A. High School feel that really made that movie seem like it could happen right where you're living!
Florida's most famous movie is Scarface. Here's what Business Insider had to say about their choice:
"Though shot in L.A. (Miami officials thought filming there would ruin tourism), "Scarface" is set during the wild 1980s in South Beach and explores the underbelly of the Sunshine State better than any other movie could."
Yep, "Say hello to my little friend," coke-nosed Tony Montana represents the Sunshine State's career on celluloid. And it wasn't even filmed here! Don't get us wrong, it's an excellent film, but we think there are some others that are a bit more Florida.
