Hannibal Buress’ mien is exquisitely laid-back; like, he seems so chill that he might actually fall asleep in the middle of a bit. But don’t mistake his bemused deadpan for dull-wittedness. He can slip a crushing blow into his generally sweet, low-key observations – as, for instance, when he called out Bill Cosby for his smug “pull up your pants, black people” persona: “Yeah, but you raped women, Bill Cosby. So, brings you down a couple notches.” Preach. If the name isn’t familiar, trust us, you’ve seen him before: as Lincoln, the best boyfriend in the world, on Comedy Central’s Broad City, or in various oddball bit parts in bigger projects (30 Rock, Louie, Neighbors). He’s right on the edge of becoming a huge star, so don’t sleep on this show – it may be your last chance to see Buress in such a relatively intimate venue.
