Mount Dora songwriter Laney Jones got some much-deserved attention recently as a finalist in NPR’s Mountain Stage’s NewSong Contest. Although she didn’t win, her song “Broken Hearts” reached a national platform when she performed it in New York’s Lincoln Center a few weeks back. Now she’s returned to Central Florida, and Orlandoans have an opportunity to see her perform in a more intimate environment as she takes the stage at Milk Bar tonight. She’s just released her new single, “Work It Out,” an upbeat number about getting over presumably the heartbreak experienced in her aforementioned single. Along with her band, the Lively Spirits, our guess is she’ll be winning more hearts than breaking ’em.
