Of Montreal returns in satisfyingly euphoric style at the Social

The return of the curiously non-Quebecois band with flamboyantly subtle glam-funk stylings is nigh. Though they’re still touring their 2013 Lousy With Sylvianbriar album, arguably their best album since Hissing Fauna, they always manage to sound fresh. That being said, now that we’ve heard their newest single, “Empyrean Abattoir,” we’re more than ready for their upcoming release, Aureate Gloom, in March, so we’re crossing our toes that they’ll be busting out some new stuff at the Social tonight. Warming the audience for them is L.A.-based Nedelle Torrisi, whom we’ve loved since the 2013 Forrest Borie music video for her nostalgically croony “Can’t Wait” sauntered into our earholes. So we have high expectations for this show to be satisfyingly euphoric and lovably weird – an epic combo.

OF MONTREAL with Nedelle Torrisi | 8 p.m. Friday | The Social, 54 N. Orange Ave. | 407-246-1419 | thesocial.org | $20
