Lil Indies has developed a reputation for having interesting art exhibits to browse while you sip on that $10 cocktail. From Pulp Fiction and Prince-inspired collections to complement shows next door at Will’s Pub to ex-Precious frontman Steve Garron’s paintings of his cat, the space is known as a place to see art you probably wouldn’t see elsewhere. But one of the coolest exhibits that took over the space last year was Decades of Skate
, an art show consisting entirely of old skateboard decks mounted to the wall – art side out, of course. That concept returns to Indies starting tonight, with the decks of the ’70s and ’80s replaced by more recent board art. Though the show will run for an indeterminate amount of time, the opening night features a silent auction for decks painted by local artsmiths like Heidi “The Naysayer” Kneisl, Kayla Prommersberger, Dolla Short and more, which is a great opportunity to start your own art deck collection.
