Local baker makes good on Food Network's spring baking competition

Notice a familiar face on the second episode of Food Network's Spring Baking Championship? That's Juliana Evans, graduate of Dr. Phillips High School (circa 1997), blogger, proprietor and head baker of the now-closed food truck and cupcake boutique Graciously Sweet.

Host Duff Goldman (of Ace of Cakes fame) is one of the judges and breaks down each episode. He said this about Juliana's cupcake from last night's episode in his recap blog:

"Juliana was so stressed after crashing hard in the first challenge, but, man, that cupcake was – to quote my man Guy – off the chain! Good for her; I knew she could do it. ... Her tart looked like it should be on a magazine cover."

On this show, only in its third week, bakers compete against each other to win $50,000 in cash and the title. Watch Juliana compete with six other bakers – ranging from professional pastry chefs to home cooks – on Sunday nights at 9 pm. on Food Network.
