The composer Johann Sebastian Bach loved beer. Betcha didn't know that.
As any good German would, Bach wrote a letter to a friend boasting about a barrel of beer he'd received as a gift, effusively describing how much he loved it. Bach Festival Society of Winter Park
members Betsy Gwinn and Alex Tiedtke found this 300-year-old letter, and out of that, the now-annual Brandenburger Bock collaboration between Cask & Larder
and the Bach Festival Society of Winter Park was born.
Mark your calendars; Beaujolais Nouveau is so 2015: For the second year running
, the unveiling of the Brandenburger Bock will take place at Cask & Larder on Saturday, Feb. 13, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Master brewer Larry Foor has also invited several other breweries to join the festivities, including Redlight Redlight, Ten10, Central 28, Crooked Can and Red Cypress.
The event will also feature a live performance by members of the acclaimed Bach Festival Choir and Orchestra, who will serenade the audience with selections from Bach’s Brandenburg concertos. (Concerto No. 3 is a personal favorite.) There will also be an exclusive menu of Bavarian specialties and to-go growlers available at both C&L and Swine & Sons
Best of all, your beer-drinking can do good. $1 of each sale will go to benefit the Bach Festival Society of Winter Park.
